Marketing and Communications
Purdue Research Foundation Department of Marketing and Communications directs all earned, owned and paid media for the Foundation, Discovery Park District, Purdue Research Park networks, Purdue Foundry and the Purdue Office of Technology Commercialization.
The Department’s team works closely with clients, collaborators, colleagues and partners to generate stories that bring attention and results to advance the strategic goals established by the Foundation and its affiliates. These actions include:
News Creation — A news release can be generated to announce that a company has a) become a Purdue Research Park company, b) is opening a site in Discovery Park District, c) licensed a Purdue University technology, d) secured funding, e) launched a product or f) partnered with Purdue on a new collaboration.
The Department also works to promote patented technologies that are available for licensing through the Purdue Research Foundation Office of Technology Commercialization.
News distribution — News releases, announcements or tips are distributed to news outlets around the world and pitched to targeted media depending on the topic or sector of the news. News releases also are posted on a number of websites as applicable including Purdue University, Purdue Research Foundation, Purdue Research Park and the Office of Technology Commercialization.
Social Media – The Department has created and maintains all relative social media outlets including LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook and YouTube. News is posted daily to these sites. In addition, each of the Purdue Research Park sites receive assistance with their respective social media platforms.
Videos – Video stories are created for startups commercializing a Purdue innovation, technology videos to promote a Purdue innovation and other uses.
Radio spots – .30 and .15 radio spots are generated four times a year to publicize the Foundation’s strategic initiatives, special projects, top collaborations and other news items. The spots run on the top two radio stations in Indiana.
ENewletters – Two separate ENewsletters are created, posted and distributed monthly to more than 100,000 subscribers.
Startup Express — Purdue Research Foundation’s e-newsletter features information about the Foundation, Discovery Park District, Purdue Research Park and is distributed to subscribers in media, park companies, Purdue alumni, faculty and upper-level staff at all campuses, deans' advisory councils, Indiana legislators, Indiana business leaders and economic development organizations within the state. Tech Transfer Express – Office of Technology Commercialization ENewsletter features information about patented technologies that are available for licensing and startups whose primary technology is licensed from Purdue. It is distributed to subscribers in media, park companies, Purdue alumni, faculty and upper-level staff at all campuses, deans' advisory councils, Indiana legislators, Indiana business leaders and economic development organizations within the state (Tech Transfer Express)
Collateral Materials — The Department generates a number of collateral materials including:
Annual Report that is published each year highlighting the Foundation’s news and activities.
Startup Guide that provides direction and advice for entrepreneurs commercializing Purdue innovations.
Innovator Hall of Fame that inducts 25 Purdue innovators annually.
Annual Startup Class for all startups created in a fiscal year.
Site brochures for Purdue Research Park, Discovery Park District and as needed for special projects.
Other — The Department presents media workshops, places Purdue innovators and entrepreneurs in all types of media interviews and advertising, works directly with media to promote technologies, startups, innovators and special events.
